Parkinson’s Home Care Support

Parkinson’s home care supports daily routines, medication schedules, mobility needs, and personal care so individuals can continue living safely and comfortably at home.

Helping People with Parkinson’s Disease Live Safely and Comfortably at Home

Parkinson’s disease can gradually affect movement, balance, medication schedules, communication, and everyday tasks at home. Practical support with personal care, mobility, meals, and daily routines can help individuals remain comfortable while families adjust to changing needs together.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological movement disorder that can affect motor symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, balance, and slowed movement, as well as non-motor symptoms such as fatigue, mood changes, sleep disruption, and cognitive changes.

Challenges of Living with Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s can affect many parts of daily life, creating practical challenges around mobility, personal care, medication schedules, and staying socially connected at home.

Movement and Mobility Difficulties

Tremors, stiffness, and balance changes can make walking, climbing stairs, getting in and out of chairs, or moving safely around the home more challenging, increasing the risk of falls and fatigue.

Personal Care Challenges

Bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting may take longer as coordination and hand movements change, sometimes requiring additional assistance to complete personal care tasks safely and comfortably.

Medication Management Needs

Parkinson’s medications often need to follow strict schedules, and changes in timing can sometimes affect movement, coordination, and a person’s ability to participate in everyday activities.

Emotional and Social Well-Being

Mobility limitations, fatigue, and changes in communication can make social activities more difficult, sometimes leading to isolation or frustration as individuals participate less frequently in hobbies, community events, or family gatherings.

How Parkinson’s Home Care Can Help

Parkinson’s home care supports more than personal needs alone. It can help individuals maintain medication routines, continue recommended therapies, move more safely at home, and reduce the practical demands placed on family caregivers.

Personalized Parkinson’s Care Plans

Parkinson’s care plans should reflect the person’s current symptoms, mobility level, medication schedule, family caregiver involvement, and stage of progression. In earlier stages, support may focus on reminders, transportation, companionship, and help with household routines. As symptoms progress, care may expand to personal care, mobility assistance, meal support, overnight supervision, or 24-hour care.

Hero Home Care reviews care plans regularly so support can adjust as routines, safety needs, and family responsibilities change over time.

I am recovering from a stroke and rely on care aids for assistance in dressing and my meals! I have Judy visit with me 5 mornings a week! She is truly remarkable! She keeps everything clean and organized! So it’s easy for others to come in and follow her example! I’m so very grateful that she does the work for me! She makes my life quite a bit easier! So, I can focus on my exercise programs and rehabilitation! I’m grateful to her everyday. She is an amazing well organized care aid.

Choosing a homecare service can be overwhelming, especially when you don’t know one provider from another. In our case, Hero Home Care was recommended to us by several nursing staff in our local hospital emergency department. Their thorough and thoughtful initial assessment of my 94-year-old mother’s needs immediately set them apart and gave me confidence in the care plan they developed. They demonstrated a genuine understanding of not just her physical and medical needs, but also her personality, preferences, and safety concerns. The experience and involvement of the nursing director, along with the ongoing oversight of the care team, further reassured me that my mom was in capable and attentive hands.

The Heroes at Hero Home Care have been a godsend. Consistency in care is huge. The Carers arrive on time – are friendly – and get right down to setting my husband up for the day. I’ve got three hours of down time – I can run chores, or meet a friend for tea. It’s called survival!

Finding someone to look after a loved one is such an important and emotional decision, and I’m so grateful we chose Hero Home Care. From the very first consultation, they were patient, understanding, and incredibly supportive. They took the time to listen to our needs and made the whole process feel less overwhelming. My brother has connected so well with the caregivers, which has been an enormous relief for our family. Seeing him comfortable, cared for, and genuinely supported means everything. The team’s kindness, professionalism, and dedication truly stand out. I recommend Hero Home Care to anyone looking for compassionate and reliable home care. They have made a difficult time so much easier, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

Hero Home Care has provided amazing care for my Dad since he came home from being in the hospital for 3 weeks! The care plan was customized to his wishes and assisted my step mother so she didn’t have to be the sole care provider for my Dad. They ended up going with 24 hour care for those initial home days to make sure he received the immediate care he needed. The whole plan has been seamless and a relief.

We needed some full time care for my 93 year old dad as his wife had to suddenly leave the country to take care of her sister for two weeks. I could stay in the house but had to work full time during the day. She met with Hero Home Care on a Friday and a two week schedule came together for the following two weeks. My father is mostly housebound due to limited mobility and needs full time care. He really enjoyed their company and I could go to work during the day and things were always in good order when I came back. Very impressed how they put together this team so quickly and the quality of the caregivers. If this happens again we know who to call.

Hero Home Care has made life soo soo much easier for both my Mother and myself. We have been receiving help, for a good few months now, with bathing and taking care of my mother’s hygiene, a job she would not let me do. The nurses also do light housework, in fact if there is anything (within reason) they can help with, it is done. The care that is taken is phenomenal. Because of the help, I am able to have some time to myself. Seriously I just cannot imagine life without the understanding by both the nurses and the office staff. Thanks so very much.
